What is Botox Cosmetic?
Botox Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles to temporarily treat moderate to severe facial lines of adults 18 to 65 years of age for a short time (temporary).
What is the difference between Botox Cosmetic and Therapeutic Botox?
Botox Cosmetic and Functional Botox are essentially the same thing however Botox Cosmetic is for non-medical uses, it’s for esthetic purposes, and Functional Botox is for medical benefits such as a blepharospasm (eye twitch).
Why should I consider Botox Cosmetic?
Years of squinting, concentrating, or frowning can cause your skin to furrow and crease. As time passes, your skin becomes less elastic and those moderate to severe from lines between your brows remain... even when your muscles aren’t contracting. The moderate to severe lines between your brows can leave you looking angry and or unapproachable and Botox Cosmetic can drastically reduce this appearance.
Is Botox Cosmetic approved by the FDA?
Botox Cosmetic was introduced in 2002 is the first botulinum toxin to be approved by the FDA to temporarily reduce glabella lines between the brows.
Where is the Glabella?
Your glabella is the area in between your eyebrows.
Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Yes! Although the results are visible, a single treatment with Botox Cosmetic will not drastically change your facial appearance and leave you looking like you’ve “had work done”. The muscle is temporarily reduced but you can still frown & look surprised without wrinkles and creases between your brows.
When will I see the results after an injection? And how long will they last?
You will typically notice a softening in the appearance of your frown lines within 24-48 hours after your injection, however the area may continue to improve within the first month.
Results have been shown to last up to 4 months, however results may vary.
